900 stall? that thing is pretty cereal...haha. I think my bronco has a looser converter than that.

Put a 460 in it! look at your CMC user title (CMC Boss460)...it is a sign!

If anything put a blower on the GT. I doubt you ever use that back seat. Put a 6 point roll bar with swing outs on it. Just leave the swing outs off unless it is a track day. Will not intrude at all.

The LTD will just be a poor return on investment any way you look at it. Re-sale, performance, etc.
This man speaks the truth. You will need to put a lot of dough into the LTD to make it perform. Epi, I know you have an attachment to this car but your money would be better spent elsewhere.

And a big block will only add more nose heavy weight that will have even more ill effects on the car.

But if you want to build it I will remind you of the "potential" it has when your down and out on the car.

For a nice street cruiser car I would keep the weight and cost down as much as possible. But have fun what ever way you decide to go.

i have an idea what it costs to build. I've been pricing this out for a while, and its going to be up there in the stratosphere. the engine might be the cheaper part.. its building the trans, rear end, etc that is going to cost. this project won't be an overnight thing either.

I think you're overestimating the weight of this car to begin with. as of right now, the LTD weighs 3,960 lbs with a half tank. the modern Crown Vic weighs roughly the same.. the CVPI with 3.55 gears does mid 15s all day. my current setup will perform just as well (HO engine and 4.10 gears). i know the BB will increase the weight, but BB power will compensate.

this is nothing new to me. I just haven't built an all-out performer for myself. many people will say its a waste.. and yeah, it'd be cheaper to buy zerb's notch and build that, but i am reminded of the movie "men in black" where he pushes the lil red button in the big black LTD and it hits lightspeed.

its just more fun to see something so big go fast.

now you kids stop bickering in my thread.

man, even a bbf without a turbo or s/c hauls like non other. you can make 700 N/A horsepower on pump gas with off the shelf parts with $1600 aluminum heads. thats not even sprayed or forced air yet.
