    Default 7,000+ RPM

Looking to do a BOSS 302 Manifold or Cobra Jet on my 5.0

How serious is the advice to upgrade the clutch/flywheel as a supporting mod?

I've heard there are serious issues with the stock clutch when you go over 7,000rpm+

The clutch pedal itself wont return out, but rather stays down at the floor.

Anyone with some first-hand experience running the stock clutch up that high?

    Thanks!

I have a stock boss 302. I have to short shift just under 7,000 RPM. Otherwise the clutch pedal won't return. An aftermarket clutch is a good upgrade if you plan to wind out the RPM. I've read that the Cobra Jet reluctor wheel is a good upgrade also for better ignition performance at high RPM.

i doubt that wheel does anything, but i installed one anyways. It worked in my 8000 rpm destruction.

I'd also do some research as to what your end goal is, the boss 302 intake is pretty much junk compared to either a ported 18 or a CJ intake, but depends on your goals.

I have a Boss intake on mine, and when I first installed it I could not shift it over 7k. Replaced the clutch last fall and can flat foot shift it at 7,800 now with no issues.
