Default Educate MG on Ceramic Coating

Finally decided to give one of these fancy new fangled ceramic coatings a try. I just ordered the Pinnacle Black Label coating kit from Autogeek. It comes with ceramic coatings for the paint, glass, and wheels, plus a pre-coating polish and applicators.

I know surface prep is where most of the time will be spent. I need to polish the car so I figured this would be the best timing to finally try one of these new coatings. I plan to use chemical guys V34 and V36 to do a 2 stage polish. Any do's and don'ts I should be aware of either in prep or when applying the coating? Anything special I need to do for maintenance or regular washing to help the coating last as long as possible?

I cannot help you with this because all my cars paint sucks, but I hate how they call it ceramic coating, call me old, but that's for your exhaust & headers.

Same lol. I've been doing it old school with wax and have had no problems. What drew me in is how long these new coatings last and are supposedly super slick to prevent dirt and dust from sticking. With the kit I bought, I should have enough to do both the Boss and Escape.

Worst case, I'll update this thread when I detail the boss and post up my experiences and lessons learned.

So I was wondering about this ceramic coat but I was worried about it being brittle against the paint What would be the pros and cons of this stuff

From what I gather, it offers better protection than wax or synthetic wax like sealants, and it lasts for 1-2+ years. It can also prevent light swirls that may occur from regular washing.

The other thing I've read is easier and less frequent washing because it's super slick and doesn't let anything stick to the paint. Since I don't have as much time as I'd like to anymore for detailing, I like the one and done coating. It shouldn't need any attention for awhile since it's a garage queen.
