That looked like a blast! I'm afraid I'd get confused with all the cones and be making lefts instead of rights. How many runs did it take for you to get used to the layout of the course?

I've autocrossed a few times before, so I was able to get through the course with no problems. On my last run of the day, I pushed the car hard and missed a cone, but otherwise once you know what to look for, it's easy.

My first time autocrossing, it took me 2 or 3 runs to get through the course correctly. What really helps is getting there early enough to walk the course two or three times to try to memorize the layout. You have to watch for pointer cones that direct you through the course and you have to be thinking 2-3 turns ahead.

Everyone is also really friendly at these events and it's usually pretty easy to find a more experienced driver to ride along with you for a run or two until you've got it figured out.

    DIS^
I had two DNFs and a member came up to me and helped point that out to me. Had another guy ride along and point to each turn / slalom cone at a slower pace and help me out. Was good to go from there.
