Here are some progress pics on the 427 build. The rotating assembly is in. With the pistons measuring 0.015" under the deck and with 0.030" head gaskets, the compression ratio is going to end up at 9.4:1. Perfect for running a pump gas tune on the street.

Calico coated bearings in and clearances checked.

Starting to look like an engine!

Brought the new engine home last night. Huge thank you to my friend Brandon at Geared Up Motorsports for helping me get this thing machined and assembled. It turned out beautiful.

Ran a new personal best in this car on Tuesday. I started the day with an 11.1x pass at 123 mph. I pulled plugs after my first pass and they looked great, so I put 1 more degree of total timing in it and I backed down my 2 step RPM to hit the converter a bit harder at launch. For my second pass, I ran a new personal best of 11.011 @121.93. Here is the in car video of that pass:

Then I decided to be stupid and try my bigger nitrous jets. I made a driving error and accidentally pulled up to the line in second gear. My trans brake didn't work and I rolled through the beams. Went down the track and trapped 125 MPH but ran something like an 11.4 because of the sluggish 2nd gear start.

Next pass out on the 150 shot, I launched correctly in 1st gear, but spun the tires well past the 60 foot cone . Finally I got rolling and then hit the rev limiter well before the 1/4 mile. I don't think my torque converter liked the extra power.

I came back to the lanes and put the smaller jets back on and made one more pass. Last pass was an 11.06. Overall, I'm happy with how consistent the car is. It runs 11.0x with a 1.52 60 foot repeatedly. Rather than being impatient and throwing bigger jets in, I should have checked plugs again and added one or two more degrees of timing to try for the 10.9 pass.

I'll get out to the track at least one more time before winter hits. Somehow or another, I'll find a way to knock 2 hundredths off of my ET.

Well I did it. I finally got the 10 second pass I was after, and went even faster than I expected. I made some slight tuning tweaks and was able to squeeze a little more horsepower out of the car without blowing through the torque converter.

Here is my first pass of the day. This pass felt good as soon as I let go of the transbrake button. I went 10.821 @ 124.65 with a 1.493 60 foot.

Here is the in car video of the same pass:

And the 1st 10 second time slip (left lane):

The car only went a bit faster from there. My next 3 passes were 10.775, 10.779, 10.781. Then I had one 11.1x pass to finish the day because I got out of the groove and spun. My best 60' of the day was 1.473. I'm very happy with how this little stock block 308 performed, and also my suspension. Lots of people were complaining that track prep sucked, but my car seemed to work fine in either lane. This car is always so consistent.

Here is my best time slip (left lane):

More videos since I can only embed 2 videos per post:

Showed a CTS-V my tail lights. The fun thing about this car is how well it puts down power. It put down only 430 rwhp when it was last on the dyno. The car is very efficient though and can usually hang with 600+ horsepower cars if I have I'm quick on the tree.
