What is this about?
This will encompass a two day cruise spanning 2 days and over 300 miles through some of the most scenic roads in Illinois, including a stop in beautiful Apple Canyon state Park, lunch at Poopy’s Pub in Savannah, IL, a cruise up through Iowa along the Mississippi River, an overnight stay at the awesome Grand Harbor Resort in Dubuque IA.
Day 2 involves a cruise back on the Stagecoach Trail before turning back to Illinois and wrapping up mid day Sunday.
Official Cruise Maps:
*****Day One Route*****
Day One is a drive heavy day - approximately 5 hrs and 226 miles. Be prepared for some obscure but amazing driving paths- stuff thats a bit unexpected in northern Illinois.
*****Day Two Route*****
- Gas stops in Rockford, Elizabeth, Savannah (93 available, e-85 nearby)
- Brunch/snack break in Apple Canyon State Park, a real hidden gem of a park. Great photo opportunities!
- Full Lunch/ chill at Poopy's Bar, a real rowdy biker bar. Group discounts on tattoos!
- Photo shoots including Sebula landing and at Bellevue State Park.
- Check in at Grand Harbor approx 5-6 PM. Casino, dinner, waterpark, whatever ???
Day Two includes breakfast in Galena (hopefully with less flooding :P Time TBD depending on how hung over we are
, but it will be early enough to get back home in good time.
What if I can’t make it Saturday? Or Sunday?
- Obligatory Photo Shoot in Scales Mound
- Cruise back on the Stagecoach Trail, taking in the scenery
For those that cannot commit to the overnight stay, or have other commitments, this cruise is still for you. There will be an opportunity Saturday to return back to Chicagoland after Poopy’s day one, or for those wanting to join Sunday you can simply head out to Galena Sunday AM and catch us at breakfast ☺ . You’ll miss over half the fun either way, but at least get out a bit.
Word of warning to tuned cars– both 93 octane and E-85 become tough to find west of Freeport, so be advised. We have used a couple of station finders and maps to try and ensure the route passes a few of those stations, but no promises. Longest stretch on this cruise as planned with no gas is about 110 miles.
